S. Electrolyte Test (Serum Electrolyte Test)

The S. Electrolyte Test (Serum Electrolyte Test) checks the levels of key minerals in your blood, including sodium (Na⁺), potassium (K⁺), and chloride (Cl⁻).

These minerals are called electrolytes, and they help control:

  • Fluid balance in the body

  • Muscle function (including the heart)

  • Nerve signals

  • Acid-base (pH) balance

Why It’s Important

Abnormal electrolyte levels can be caused by:

  • Dehydration

  • Kidney or heart problems

  • Certain medications

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

The test helps diagnose conditions like:

  • Electrolyte imbalance

  • Kidney disorders

  • Heart conditions

  • High blood pressure
